Patong is the most famous beach in Phuket; it is always full of international travellers. During the day, it’s a beautiful beach. The sand is pure white and sparkling on a sunny day. Local life can still be seen as local people still do some fishing around here in the morning. You can also enjoy sunbathing or water sports.

But at night, it becomes a nightlife district where there are a lot of restaurants, bars, music and entertainment places.

For locals, they normally call it ‘Bangla Road’. It will be a new and exciting experience for you to stroll around this street. You will see a lot of contrast; for example, a pharmacy that is next to an entertainment bar.

Patong Beach was hit hard during the 2004 tsunami. Therefore, there is a sign with information about the direction you should proceed in if a tsunami happens. They have a great warning system now, so you do not have to worry.

Tip: Walk in a group of two or more people, so you will feel more comfortable when getting invited to some restaurants, bars or shows. Local merchants are quite aggressive in presenting what they have to offer. Yet, they are friendly. If you can speak some Thai, you might get some discounts, so just remember this phrase ‘Lod Noi Na?’ (Could you please give me a discount?)
