You may have tried the famous chilli crab, but you don’t know what true bliss is until you’ve tried the salted egg version! A culinary fad from the early 2010s that never seemed to go away, Singaporeans can never get enough of this buttery sauce made from salted duck egg yolks (it doesn’t taste as “exotic” as it sounds).

Keng Eng Kee serves a particular delicious version — no surprise, since the eatery has even earned a place on the Michelin Guide. The open-air restaurant specialises in Hainanese cuisine, as well as some Cantonese dishes.

Besides the famous crab, other must-try dishes at Keng Eng Kee include the Moonlight Horfun (a twist on the popular stir-fried dark noodles), Mingzhu Roll, and Coffee Pork Ribs.
