MURAKAMI vs MURAKAMI

Hong Kong, Hong Kong
1 Jun - 1 Sep 2019

"The entire exhibition is a huge immersive experience that demonstrates what an incredibly intelligent and thought-provoking artist Takashi Murakami is.” - Tobias Berger, Head of Art at Tai Kwun

The popularity of Takashi Murakami’s work lies in his ability to explore very relatable, albeit dark themes that are disguised as a technicolour wet dream; a sort of reflection of modern day society where various degrees of life’s ugliness are often hidden away, distracted or masked under a curated display of happiness. This year, gawk at some of his best works at his no-holds-barred “MURAKAMI vs MURAKAMI” exhibition, where his whimsical paintings, sculptures and never-before-seen costumes will take over the various spaces of a former police station to showcase the formidable prowess that gave him his pop icon status.
