Find out how.

Kjarlvalsstaðir is an art museum in the heart of Reykjavík. It is located in Klambratún recreational park and is only a short walk from the city centre. We are both big fans of the quality of the exhibitions that Kjarvalstaðir features.

The art museum gets its name from one of Iceland's most famous artists, Jóhannes S. Kjarval. Some of his work is featured, along with other up-and-coming Icelandic talents. The exhibitions at Kjarvalsstaðir focus primarily on paintings and sculptures of the established masters of modern art.

It is a great experience for all art lovers and fanatics. As mentioned above, the art museum is located in Klambratún park, which has nice walking paths and is also a nice place to have a picnic if the weather allows. It's also an ideal place to take your kids, as there are playgrounds for them to play at.

There is a lovely coffee shop there as well that offers a variety of Scandinavian food and pastries.

The tastefully decorated coffee shop is open during the museum’s operating hours, which is great for visitors.

Here, you can see the Klambratún park outside the windows.
