If you are here in Auckland on a Saturday, then one of the best things to head to bright and early is the French Market. They are situated down the bottom of Parnell, so it’s close to town if that's where you are staying.

They kick off at 8am and it's great to hit them early if you can, when the croissants are still warm and the coffee's hot. It's small and quaint with lots of yummy delicacies to try and just enough stalls to get around in an hour or so.

Think sweet treats, chocolate desserts, tasty cheeses and freshly baked bread – you can try all things French here. There's a communal seating area under cover for wetter days and some shops selling homewares as well. You can pick up food to take away and have at home later. There are also local fruit and veggie men selling their produce fresh and straight from their gardens.
