It’s a little-known fact, but Western Australia’s truffle scene is one of the most celebrated in the world.

Only a couple of hours drive from Perth City, Manjimup has a number of truffle farms, with their most popular being The Truffle & Wine Co.

With the fungus in season during winter, I love heading down there to get hands on with food sourcing. It’s a really fun day out, and I always make sure to purchase a truffle to take home with me – that way I can experiment in the kitchen and indulge in that earthy, pungent goodness.

Winter days are the perfect setting to take on Manjimup – a small town famous for their truffles.

It’s amazing to see the dogs at work, sniffing under oak and hazelnut trees to find these truffle nuggets, which are one of the world’s most expensive ingredients.

The moment you unearth them the aroma fills the air – they’re so fresh and you just know that they’ll taste delicious!

Shaved or sliced, they are every foodies dream (especially mine – I look forward to this all year).
