GOTOKU-ji temple is located 20 minutes away from Shinjuku. This temple is quiet and peaceful – especially on weekdays. What you really need to see here is the Cats - “Maneki-neko” (welcoming cats).

There is also a simple residential section around GOTOKU-ji temple, which is really peaceful to stroll around and gives you a sneak peek of everyday life in Japan.

Silence.

JIZO in the temple (Jizo is a popular deity in Japan). He is the patron saint of travellers, children and pregnant women, and statues of him are often seen along roads in rural districts.
