GOTOKU-ji temple is located 20 minutes away from Shinjuku. This temple is quiet and peaceful – especially on weekdays. What you really need to see here is the Cats - “Maneki-neko” (welcoming cats).

There is also a simple residential section around GOTOKU-ji temple, which is really peaceful to stroll around and gives you a sneak peek of everyday life in Japan.

Silence.

JIZO in the temple (Jizo is a popular deity in Japan). He is the patron saint of travellers, children and pregnant women, and statues of him are often seen along roads in rural districts.

Try the OSENKO experience “for free” – OSENKO is incense that Japanese people offer to their ancestors and gods.

Holy water is used by Japanese people to cleanse their spirit.
