‘Phromthep Cape’ or ‘Laem Phromthep’ is located at the southernmost part of Phuket Island. It has been regarded as a symbol of the island since the early years of tourism industry. Now, as Phuket has become a global destination for beach lovers, this cape is where people around the world gather every evening to watch the sunset.

My mother’s family is from Southern Thailand, so I’ve been familiar with this place since I was a kid. When the sun sets, the golden light is reflected in the deep blue sea with the coconut and palm trees in the foreground.

The golden-colored grass also adds more charm to the scene, and the whole picture is stunningly beautiful.

Although it is very popular for international travellers and the place gets very crowded nowadays, I still think it is still worth coming here to witness the sunset. I suggest you prepare a camera with a tripod or a smartphone with a selfie stick.

It would be a great experience to capture the sunset from different angles. You might enjoy using the timelapse feature on your camera, and I guarantee you will get the best shots from Phromthep Cape.

Tip: If you are driving, please come here early before 5pm. You can stroll around the area and take some photos and videos. Also, please check for weather conditions to avoid rainy and cloudy days.
