Concubine Lane is a century-old alleyway that sits in the heart of Ipoh’s old town.
It used to be a secret den where wealthy tycoons bought houses for their mistresses. Over time, this alley has been revamped with some cool modern touches that gradually transformed the location into a tourist attraction visited by many.
This nostalgic lane is dotted with plenty of quirky cafes, stalls, and boutique hotels that are all nestled within well-maintained pre-war shophouses.
Some of my favourite spots here are the Concubine Lane Ipoh Tau Fu Fa—an eatery where you can try the town’s signature dessert, and the Platf9rm Coffee & Brew Café where fellow Potterheads gather.
You should also check out the Bam Choon Dong Tea Court which boasts a beautiful interior, a collection of exotic tea concocted using traditional methods, and approachable staff eager to assist you in discovering the perfect blend. Their tea selection includes the rare ancient Chinese bamboo shell tea which you should definitely give a try.
