Most people who look at a civil service clubhouse would probably think that there’d be nothing of interest inside for them. HomeTeamNS Khatib changes all of that.
This place is truly a dream come true for anyone whose inner child is screaming for some kind of adventure (that’s me). And the best part is that they’re all within one place.
It’s also just a stone’s throw away from Khatib MRT. You can’t miss it because it’s really a massive 21,000 sqm complex that just commands power (ok slight exaggeration) on the corner of Yishun Walk and Yishun Ave 2. And in it, there are so many facilities to use and so many activities to try out.
So let’s talk about some of the things housed in this clubhouse. There’s a members’ lounge here where you can chill, read or work; but only if you, or someone you know, has a HomeTeamNS membership.
The man cave even comes with a private BBQ patio.
Otherwise, you could book what they call a “mancave”, which is basically a private space equipped with all the latest entertainment gadgets. So if you’re looking for a space to throw a birthday party, this could be it.
For all the fitness nuts, you’ll be happy to know that the clubhouse is home to the largest Fitness Workz Gym. This sprawling, state-of-the-art 1,500 sqm space is split into nine elite workout zones, which includes a boxing studio and guardians bridge. There’s even a steam room!
All that aside, we move on to my favourite thing about HomeTeamNS Khatib – Adventure HQ! This place isn’t just any ordinary indoor playground. Spanning across four storeys, this 2,800 sqm space is Singapore’s first and largest multi-installation indoor adventure centre, featuring 10 adventure elements!
There’s a spot in Adventure HQ where you can capture all of the activities.
It also hosts a number of “records” in Singapore, featuring Singapore’s first indoor glider, longest indoor slide (it’s 14 metres long; 2 metres longer than the one at Changi Airport), first 165m long indoor artificial caving and biggest two-tiered, 16-elements indoor challenge ropes course.
This urban climb wall has 24 interactive climbing elements.
Avid climbers will also be pleased to know that there are bouldering walls, rock climbing walls (with eight different lanes) and even an urban climb course. Those who always wanted to be on American Ninja Warrior may want to consider trying their ninja course.
Found a nice spot to chill.
This Adventure HQ is also super Instagramable. Should you find yourself taking a break, whip out your phone or camera and get shooting! Just make sure you have a wide angle lens ready so as to get the most out of your shots. Be ready to put your patience to the test too, because you’re going to get a lot of people in your shot. You could try to find a different angle, or get creative and shoot a long exposure shot where the only thing not moving is the background and your subject.
Even the locker area is pretty.
Keep your eyes peeled when you’re there, because you’ll never know what kind of photographic gems you’ll find. A couple of unexpected places you can check out is this staircase near the entrance, their Olympic-sized swimming pool which has this nice-looking structure, and their black and yellow locker area.
I’ve already been here a couple of times, and have brought my family for bowling once. But I can’t wait to come back and try TactSim, Singapore's first Player versus Player (PvP) airsoft. I'm so excited because it reminds me of my army days!
