Be spirited away to a charming old world in the town of Jiufen

Jiufen is a mountain town in the east of Taipei that’s widely known for its narrow alleyways and old town feel. It is a mere 1.5-hour car ride away from most parts of Taipei City, and is connected by various shuttle bus services. 

There are many traditional teahouses and street-food stalls, as well as small boutiques selling unique souvenirs and local crafted products. Overall, Jiufen is very charming and unique – the streets are winding and paved with cobblestones, and you can see red lanterns everywhere! It is a lovely scenic spot that makes you feel like you're in the anime Spirited Away!

 

The alleyways in Jiufen inspired the setting of the famous Japanese anime film, Spirited Away. If you’re a huge fan of Hayao Miyazaki, this is a must-go spot! 

 

The view is amazing up in the mountains. Immerse yourself in nature as you get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
