Encounter the transience of human existence at Wat Khunaram

Wat Khunaram (Phra Viharn Luang Pho Daeng) is a Buddhist temple that's well-known for being a shrine to 'the Mummy Monk', Luang Pho Daeng. 

After he died while meditating in 1973, his disciples enshrined his body with his legs still folded lotus-style, in a glass coffin, where it has remained ever since. 

 

His mummified body, which sits in the glass coffin behind a golden statue of his likeness, remains incredibly well-preserved 40 years on.

 

There are also other sacred aspects located around the temple grounds for you to worship.

 

The temple is open to public and there is no admission fee. But visitors should remember to dress modestly, speak softly, abstain from drinking alcohol on the grounds, and keep the temple area clean.
