Phase 2 Attractions Reopening Singapore: Safety Guidelines To Take Note Of Before Heading Down

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has announced that tourism-linked businesses will be allowed to reopen starting 1 July 2020. 13 of these Singapore attractions will start resuming operations after 3 months of closure. Most of these attractions will be restricted to a 25% operation capacity at any one time, and access to the casinos will be limited to existing members and annual levy holders.

Apart from tourist attractions, local libraries and even selected museums will also be opened with strict safety guidelines put in place:

Here’s what you should take note before you make that trip down:

1. ArtScience Museum Singapore

Since many of us put our travel plans to Japan on hold, if you were planning on getting that Instagram worthy shot at the teamLAB exhibitions in Tokyo, for now, the teamLABexhibitions in Singapore will have to do.

ArtScience Museum Future World exhibits are equally ‘gram-worthy! From sunflowers to led light backdrops, you’ll definitely satisfy your need for new pictures.

• From 1 July 2020, only Sands Rewards members will be allowed to enter. It is still unknown when the museum will be open to the general public.

• In light of safe management measures, three artworks will be temporarily unavailable for public interaction.

2. Gardens by the Bay

The Gardens by the Bay Flower Dome will be reopening starting 1 July 2020 exclusively for Friends of the Gardens. The rest of us will have to wait till 11th July 2020 to visit the flower dome. Tickets go on sale starting 7 July and you must pre-purchase your ticket online before heading down as physical ticketing counters will not be opened.

Do also note that the Cloud Forest, OCBC Skyway, Supertree Observatory, Floral Fantasy and the Garden Rhapsody sound and light show will not be reopening at this time and will only be open at a later date.

3. Marina Bay Sands Skypark and Observation Deck

Those looking for a birds-eye view of the Singapore skyline will have to wait a little longer. Currently, only ticket holders who are Sands Rewards Members will be granted entry into the Marina Bay Sands Skypark and Observation Deck.

4. Universal Studios Singapore

Universal Studios Singapore just might be your quick fix until it’s safe to travel to Universal Studios Japan again. Fulfil your need for an adrenaline rush on the twin coasters Battlestar Galactica and get wet and wild on the Jurassic Park flume ride.

Do take note of the following safety measure in place at the theme park:

• Mandatory wearing of face masks for all guests

• Parties of 5 or less only

• Online advanced reservation for all guests including Annual and Season pass holders must be made

• You will need to queue up at least 1 metre apart and there will be visible social distancing floor markers

• Shows, parades, fireworks and street entertainment will be cancelled

• Alternate row seating for all rides, with friends and family occupying the same row

• Queue tickets with return timings will be issued during peak periods to minimize queuing time

5. S.E.A. Aquarium

If you were thinking of catching a glimpse of the underwater creatures over at the S.E.A. Aquarium, they will be opening their doors to the public on 4 July 2020! To put your mind at ease, the aquarium will be conducting intensive and frequent cleaning and disinfection of all high touchpoints. We all know how much you like touching the glass of the display tanks.

Do take note of the safety measures in place at S.E.A. Aquarium

• Mandatory wearing of face masks for all guests

• Online advanced reservation for all guests including Annual and Season pass holders must be made

• Visible safe distancing floor markers at all viewing areas at S.E.A. Aquarium

• All shows, public feeding sessions and character meet-and-greet will not be available until further notice

6. Madame Tussauds

7. Singapore Zoo, River Safari, Jurong Bird Park

Wildlife Reserves Singapore has also announced the opening of 3 of their 4 wildlife parks on 6 July 2020 - Singapore Zoo, River Safari and Jurong Bird Park. All guests will be required to book timed-entry tickets online before visiting these parks.

Visits will also be limited to 5 guests per group. They have also stopped tram rides temporarily so you will need to walk about the parks to visit the enclosures. Some experiences, programmes and animal exhibits may be temporarily closed to keep everyone safe.

8. Bounce Inc

Got plenty of stored energy to use up after being a couch potato at home? Head on over to the trampoline park Bounce Inc where you’ll get to literally bounce non-stop. They will be opening their doors on 1st July and have implemented the following safety reopening plans:

• Reduced capacity of 33 jumpers per session

• You are advised to book online before heading down

• Masks will have to be worn at all times unless you're participating in strenuous activities such as wall running

• Jump sessions have been reduced to 50 minutes to allow them to wipe down surfaces for the following hour

• Hourly cleaning of high touch surfaces to keep you safe coupled with regular deep cleaning

9. Zero Latency

Meeting up with friends but don’t know what to do? How about a game of laser tag at Zero Latency? They will be opening their doors starting 4th July 12 pm and are only accepting online bookings so be sure to book ahead before heading down. Here are the other safety measures in place:

• To prevent cross-contamination, no other customers beyond your social group will be allowed to join your game session.

• Face masks must be worn at all times

• Proximity alarms will alert the players when they are coming close to a meter apart.

10. National Gallery, National Museum, Asian Civilizations Museum

Selected Museums and galleries have been opened since 26 June 2020 and the best part is Singaporeans can enjoy their permanent exhibitions for free! However, do take note of the following guidelines:

• No shared equipment provided (including headsets) - instead you are encouraged to download their gallery and museum apps for an audio tour

• Selected interactive exhibitions, including dedicated children’s exhibitions or installations, will not resume as these tend to be high-touch in nature

11. National Libraries

Sometimes the best thing to do is to stay at home and curl up with a good book! Thankfully the national libraries will be reopening starting 1 July for you to get your fill of books. With the following safety measures in place, here’s what you need to take note of:

• Capacity will be limited to 50 people per floor and users can only borrow and return materials.

• Book your entry slots online, as the library will be implementing timed entry to manage the flow of visitors.

• Visits will be limited to 30 minutes and visitors can check the real-time crowd conditions online or on the NLB app.

• All newspaper and multimedia stations remain closed, and guided tours and events are still suspended.

• Cleaning and sanitisation of high-touch points will be carried out once every two hours.

• The extended loan period of six weeks, which was implemented during the circuit breaker period, will continue till Dec 31, so there is no need for patrons to rush to return materials.

Opening hours have also been adjusted to 11am to 7pm instead of the usual 10am to 9pm.
