Get ready to taste an explosion of spicy and savoury flavours with this delicious must-try dish. Born in Bandung, the Seblak Bandung is a typical Sundanese cuisine that originated from the Parahyangan region in West Java.

It is made from wet crackers and cooked with vegetables and protein such as eggs, chicken, seafood, or processed beef. This spicy and savoury dish is also cooked with kencur, one of the common herbs used in Indonesian cuisine.

After the ingredients and spices are marinated together, the meat is stir-fried with shallots and garlic to bring out the aroma of the dish. The soup is simmered for a couple of hours to ensure it is slowly and gently cooked to bring out the rich flavour of the dish. This makes the Seblak a perfect hearty dish to be eaten during the cold weather.

Many restaurants in Bandung serve Seblak but the best I've had and highly recommend you try is served at Seblak Sultan Tirtayasa.
