The Brooklyn Botanical Garden – it’s practically right next door to the Brooklyn Museum, and a really fun way to take a break from the city.

The truth is, you can go some time without ever seeing grass in this city. Our version of nature is a rat eating pizza in the subway. Hey, no one ever said nature would always be charming.

But the Botanical Garden actually does provide some charming nature, and it’s even more special because it includes a good variety – from the rainforest to the desert and everything in between. Don’t miss wandering around the rose gardens or tropical plants – those are two of my favourites!

The iconic Rose Garden, where I was lucky enough to catch these beauties in full bloom during my most recent visit!

While there is usually an influx of visitors during cherry blossom season, there is always something in bloom.

The water lily ponds are always a treat – they’re a personal favourite.

There are a number of habitats to wander through. The Helen Mattin Warm Temperate Pavilion houses trees, shrubs, vines, bulbs, and ground covers that represent the diversity of plant life in warm temperate regions around the world.
