While tour buses flock to Twin Peaks, I prefer its sister hill, Bernal Heights for its sweeping views of the city and beyond. There are several paths varying in width and difficulty that take you around the hill, so be sure to wear sneakers. And don’t miss your turn on the famous man-made rope swing hanging from a sprawling tree at the top of the hill.
After you soak in the city views, grab a coffee and a bite to eat, or a locally-made treat on Cortland Street at the base of Bernal Heights. Stop in at one of my favourite shops, The Epicurean Trader, for a truffle grilled cheese and heirloom tomato sandwich or better yet, take some cheese, bread and a bottle of wine to Bernal Heights and have a picnic!
Take a short hike uphill for breathtaking views of the city.
Winding paths around the hill lead to scenic views of the San Francisco Bay.
Take a ride on the rope swing at the top of hill to capture the perfect Instagram photo.
