Violet Oon Satay Bar & Grill


Craving Peranakan fare? Violet Oon Satay Bar & Grill has expended their repertoire of Nyonya goodies to include satay and more grilled goods. Try the 150-day grain-fed Beef Satay ($17), served with a spicy peanut sauce, or juicy tiger prawns marinated in coconut rempah: Prawn Satay ($20). If you want to try their grilled specialities, order the Hae Bee Hiam Sea Bass with chinchalok relish ($42). Wash down all that hearty fare with their extensive list of cocktails – Baba Negroni ($22) with assam essence, or the coconut- and pandan-infused Jade Bangle ($18).

Tsui Wah Singapore


Supper culture is so prominent in Singapore that Tsui Wah has became an instant hit among locals. Open till the wee hours every day, the Hong Kong-based eatery presents no-fuss, casual dining options that range from comforting soups and classic Canto fare to hearty steaks and sandwiches. Looking for something to buffer a nightcap? Snack on their Deep Fried Wontons ($9.50 for 12) or Crispy Bun with Condensed Milk ($4). For the truly ravenous, take a stab at the Lamb Chop Curry with Steamed Rice ($29).

Red House Seafood 


Looking for a feast? Swing by Red House Seafood, one of the oldest seafood restaurants in Singapore. Dishing out tried-and-tested Chinese classics with quintessential Cantonese and Hainan influences, newer recipes like Braised Spinach Tofu & Honshimeji Mushroom Topped with Crisp Conpoy also make the list. Their Vegetarian Menu ($58 for 2 people) offers a full six-course meal too. Red House doesn’t only keep with local favourites like Red House Chilli Crab. With fresh imports from all over, how about the Scottish Brown Crab and Australian Lobster Sashimi for more unusual options?

Ramen Keisuke Lobster King


Japanese food is so loved here, it’s no wonder ramen shops are abundant in every crevice. Ramen juggernaut Ramen Keisuke first opened the doors to its Clarke Quay outlet in 2016, and continues to be a crowd favourite. Not much else really gets us going like a thick prawn stock, and Lobster King is here to deliver, as prawn mee lovers will agree. Savour the awesome flavours with the Miso Lobster Broth Ramen ($14.90), or go all-out umami with the Lobster Broth Ramen ($14.90).

Peony Jade


Unleash your inner Dim Sum Dolly at Peony Jade. Having won two consecutive Michelin Bib Gourmands, their menu offers dumplings in all shapes and forms — from traditional staples like Siu Mai and Har Kau to new creations like the Taro wrapped with Fresh Scallops. Offering buffets and a-la-carte meals alike, it’s also home to the hyped ‘Gudetama’ Steamed Molten Lava Bao and Mao Shan Wang Durian Mochi.

If you’re in the mood for live music, Octapas doles out the Spanish experience in full force, where tapas, paellas and sangrias are just the tip of the iceberg. For a sweet and salty cold appetiser, try the Melón con Jamón Iberico($15), rockmelon cubes with slices of Iberico ham. Ever had savoury churros? The Churros con Mejillones en Salsa ($15) replaces the typical dessert with creamy saffron mussels. Finish up with a fruity Flamenco ($16.50), or a shot of tequila.

Kushikatsu Tanaka


Japanese food Kushikatsu Tanaka’s casual ambience is perfect for a night with friends. Kushikatsu, meaning skewered meat, is the main item here: sticks of battered eel Unagi Kushi ($2.50), fishcake Hanpen Kushi($1.50)and even extra-long mozzarella-stuffed skewers. It’s also the place to put your chef skills to the test with DIY Takoyaki (from $10). Apart from basic sakes and highballs, we say give newer creations like the Cacao Orange Highball a shot.

Hai Di Lao Hot Pot


Immensely popular for its impeccable service and noodle-whipping spectacle, Hai Di Lao doesn’t need much introduction. This Sichuan-style restaurant serves up soup bases in increasing levels of spiciness, a massive selection of sauces, and an iconic noodle show (that you’ve probably seen on Instagram by now). Even if you partied till 4am with nowhere to go, the Clarke Quay outlet is open till 6am. Keep in mind that it isn’t the cheapest option, and the option of two soup bases alone can cost upwards of $20.

Motorino Pizza


Located beside Irish pub McGettigan’s, the famous American pizzeria has launched an outlet smack in the middle of Clarke Quay madness. With rave reviews from those who’ve tasted the New York original, there’s no need to worry about suffering from watered-down franchise syndrome. The dough preserves its smoky char, bubbly crisp and lovely chew – no soggy bottoms here. The Prosciutto & Roquette ($29) is a perpetual highlight, but you can also opt for something simple like a classic Marinara ($17).

Spice World Hot Pot


Need a cheaper alternative for your hot pot cravings? Spice World does just that, with the added charm with having your soup base pressed into a Hello Kitty mould ($9.90, limited to 10 a day). Don’t worry if spicy food isn’t for you, they have a range of seven bases to choose from: Tom Yum, Curry, Wild Mushroom, three levels of Mala, and three meat bases. Spice World also offers interesting flavour options that you rarely find elsewhere, like juicy Pig’s Brain ($15.90) and Fresh Aorta ($16.90). Little Monsters can appreciate the Premium Barbie Wagyu Beef ($38.90), a miniature rendition of Gaga’s Meat Dress. It’s kind of weird.

Bars in Clarke Quay

Queens (Zouk)


As its name suggests, Zouk’s latest concept draws inspiration from New York’s grittier borough, a melting pot of diversity and the birthplace of hip hop. With a playlist fittingly playing hits from the Golden Age (think RUN-D.M.C. and A Tribe Called Quest), entry is limited to those in the know or with an invite-only membership. Yet, tipples go for a pretty reasonable charge of $25. For a start, try their Signature Old Fashioned, the Wu-Tang Clan. Ever tried green pea-infused vodka? The Willdabeast keeps it fresh with celery juice, lemon and sugar.

Chupitos Shots Bar 


With over 130 colourful libations on the menu, Chupitos is where you bring that one friend who thinks ‘shots’ just means doing body shots with cheap tequila. More fun than fancy, the drinks are split into four categories of Dare, Deadly, Fruity and Yummy. Playing a game of Truth or Dare? Treat your buddy to a nice tall glass of Pee ($12) or relive the childhood with a nice Paddle Pop ($12 pairs). If you really want to go all out for a wild night, step it up with a flaming Russian Roulette ($60 for 5).

Holey Moley Golf Club


For a little change in scenery, visit Holey Moley Golf Club! Tee off with your buds over mini golf, where the pop culture references are aplenty. Take a shot at the Iron Throne, or sink some presidential holes to Make Your Golf Game Great Again. You’ll want to stay hydrated some Mai Tais ($21), Kaffir Lime Margaritas ($20), or new creations like the Shark Tanq ($21) – a cocktail comprising Tanqueray Gin and blue curacao. Hungry? The Caddyshack also serves up greasy goodies like burgers and fries to battle the midnight munchies.

Crazy Elephant

Established over 20 years ago, this no-frills Rock n Roll Blues bar has no cover and no dress code, just like those old school dive bars. Featuring a fixed schedule of live music you can chill out to while working on an ice cold beer, the lineup includes resident bands like The No-Daddies and Greg Nunan & The Blues Machine. Don’t expect deluxe service or lavish cocktails, but the casual vibe is good all the same. Basic beers like Stella Artois go for $11 and $15, and most drinks go for anywhere above $12.

Get Juiced


On the other end of the spectrum, Get Juiced is touted as the ‘future of entertainment’. Their cashless approach keeps things streamlined and efficient, and their own app lets you order anything (even song requests) from anywhere in the establishments. They’ve got great deals too, whether its 50 cent Wings on Tuesdays, or $5 beers and cocktails. With 8000 sq ft to spare, this place has separate areas for hip hop and electronica, and a chill lounge to rest your tired legs after.

Whiskey lovers have probably heard of Highlander long before the casual whiskey bar became a one-stop entertainment venue. With Scottish music, men in kilts, and an array of over 250 international whiskies, every inch reflects true Scottsman heritage. Beers on tap go for $17 a pint, and the whiskies go for around $20 a glass. With an extensive dine-in menu, you’ll be temped to have your Scotch with a humble serving hearty Chix and Haggis ($32).

Level Up


Ever wonder how fun it would be if you could went to the arcade drunk? That’s what Level Up is here to do. This arcade-bar concept lets you get hammered as you hammer some moles, metaphorically speaking. Operated by tokens as usual (15 for $10, $6 for 5 and $2 for 2) and featuring classic arcade favourites like Metal Slug and X-men VS Street Fighter, you’ll also fine the fan-favourite basketball machines. Take a break with their range of bar bites like Truffle Shoestring Fries ($12) and Typhoon Tater Tots ($12). Their cocktails go for $16, and daily promotions keep the good times flowing.

If you’re looking for a place to watch the next big game on big screens, look no further. With a full schedule available on their website, this sports bar plays host to Premiership and Championship League Football, NFL, horse racing, tennis and more! Their all-day menu also puts up great mains like Fish & Chips ($24) and McGettigan’s Full Irish Breakfast ($25). And if you’re thirsty from all the cheering, Mondays ring in Burger and a Pint deals for $25.

The Pump Room


Labelling itself as Clarke Quay’s first ever microbrewery, The Pump Room’s original craft beers take the cake with resident Brewmaster Randy Liew throwing his own spin on things. A local favourite, the Singapore Golden Ale is sweeter and not as ‘bitter’ as most beers with a refreshingly zesty finish. If you like your lagers dark, go for their meaty, medium-bodied Scotch Ale, a maltier version of the Scottish Ale. Their menu also boasts a selection of steaks, from a Black Angus Sirloin ($40 for 300g) to the impressive Black Angus Tomahawk ($98 for 800 to 900g).
