Fringe World, where every performance is really a main event

In January and February every year, Perth becomes completely alive. Fringe World is one of my favourite events. I always look forward to it, counting down the days and waiting for tickets to go on sale. Our city’s version is one of the biggest in the world, and the calibre of entertainment is remarkable. 

I love seeing all different shows, from cabaret to magicians to sing-a-longs. That’s what’s so wonderful about Fringe World – it allows you to lose yourself in the razzle and dazzle of all that’s on offer. While some of the shows can include a hefty price tag, many are super cheap or even free – meaning you can curate an itinerary that is made up of diverse experiences. 

Even just being in Perth during the season allows you to see more locals out and about, more restaurants pumping out impressive special dishes, and more cocktail glasses clinking to celebrate a good night out. 

Shows range from full scale productions to ones on a shoestring budget.

 

Some can be immersive and you become part of the act!

 

It’s not just theatre; there’s dancing, comedy and other impressive shows!

 

The audiences can be intimate, relaxed or heaving crowds.
