The Sapporo Snow Festival is the biggest drawcard in Hokkaido – the organisers expect 2 million people to visit every year! And while the festival has event sites all over the city, Odori Park, Susukino and Tsudome are the main sites.
Tsudome is definitely a great place to start! I recommend starting your trail here by taking a walk of about 15mins from Sakaemachi station. Illuminations at Odori Park will turn off at 10pm and 11pm at Tsudome, so do plan your route accordingly.
One of our favourites of the festival is the Nakajima Park site, which is beautifully lit and really romantic.
A sculpture of a government building made entirely from snow!
At the Susukino site, you can enjoy a live ice sculpture show.
At the Tsudome site, you can enjoy many outdoor activities.
And at the Shikotsu Lake site, you can enjoy a forest of snow and ice.
The romantic ambience at the Nakajima Park site is easily one of our favourites.
