A trip to Ipoh without admiring the impressive outdoor art gallery between Jalan Sultan Iskandar and Jalan Masjid, would certainly be such a shame.

This once abandoned back alley has now become a hotspot for photographers and Instagram enthusiasts, who are all eager to capture the bright colourful murals adorning every wall here.

There are some diversity in the pieces but most are centred around the theme of Malaysian local heritage.

My personal favourite is the mural of young children rowing dragon boats, drawn by a local art teacher, Eric Lai.

To beat the crowd, come early in the morning for uninterrupted shots of the murals. Once you’re done appreciating the street art, you can grab some local breakfast or late brunch at the nearby eateries.
