‘Rang Hill’ or ‘Khao Rang’ is the most popular city viewpoint in Phuket. You can see the whole Phuket town from here.

From the viewpoint, if you look west, you will see Patong, Karon and Kata beaches; in the south direction, Chalong Bay. You can go up Rang Hill both in the day and night. For me, I think night time is really special.

You can also learn quite a bit about the history of Phuket because there’s a memorial pavilion of the Na Ranong family at this viewpoint. This family has a history that dates back 200 years to the reign of King Rama III.

‘Kho Xu Jiang’ is a Chinese settler who came from Fujian in mainland China and moved to Penang, Phuket, Phang Nga, and Ranong. His children and grandchildren became nobles who worked for the Siamese government and created many great things for the country. That is why this family is a well-known and respected family in Phuket and Southern Thailand. Nowadays, a lot of successful business people are from this family.

Tip: Come up here in the evening and you can hang out at Tungka Café, which is a local restaurant serving Southern Thai Food. Then, you can watch the sunset from here and enjoy the night lights after dinner.
