Located in the heart of Golden Gate Park, the de Young Museum is a state-of-the-art destination that features paintings, textiles and artefacts from the 17th to 20th centuries. Wander through the museum and admire ancient African artefacts, 20th-century fashion couture, as well as original contemporary paintings and photography.

I love this museum because of its expansive variety of art mediums in a spacious and serene surrounding. Be sure to visit the Hamon Observation Tower on the 9th floor, one of the de Young’s lesser-known features. Here, you can get the best aerial view of Golden Gate Park and the rest of San Francisco. The de Young cafe also offers a decent cup of coffee or a glass of wine and a snack.

View ancient artefacts and treasures from Africa on display all year round.

See over 1,000 paintings housed at the de Young, ranging from the 17th century to modern day.

Visit the Hamon Observation Tower on the 9th floor for amazing views of Golden Gate Park and beyond.

Take a break between galleries at the de Young Cafe – sit outside and admire the garden sculptures.

Walk all the way around the outside of the museum to see the intricate architecture of the incredible building.
