Kawah Putih: A mystical kind of pretty

Kawah Putih is one of the most popular tourist attractions in South Bandung. Located at the foot of Mount Patuha, this scenic attraction is known to be a very Instagrammable spot.

 

Kawah Putih is a crater lake formed by the eruption of Mount Patuha, one of the many volcanoes in West Java. The water in this crater lake has very high acid content, which causes the lake's surface to appear greenish white, and sometimes even blue and brown. The colour of the lake's surface changes according to the sulfur concentration level and the surrounding temperature.
 
If you’re lucky, your visit may coincide with the time the crater lake is in its beautiful greenish-white colour. The unique colour makes it a popular choice for locals to take their wedding photos.

 

Once you get to the ticketing booth at the main entrance, you can begin your journey to the crater via the public transportation vehicle provided. This ride is an adventure of its own.

 

Tip: If you’re visiting alone and wish to capture beautiful moments of yourself at the crater, there are photographers who offer picture-taking services at the venue.
