The Penang National Park is a treasure trove. Used not just by nature lovers for a hike, it is also used by scientists and researchers for its rich biodiversity. Bring a pair of binoculars – you never know what you’ll spot!
To enter the park, you will need to travel to Teluk Bahang Fishing Village (which is also worth a quick stopover if you want to check out traditional fishermen at work). The entrance to the park is next to the village. Don’t forget to register with the park ranger before you start though; it’s especially important in case of emergency.

The beginning of the hike. Not all areas are nicely paved though, so be prepared to face the occasional muddy path.
I spoke to this father and son pair, who hike daily along the trail and know the way like the back of their hand. They make the hike seem effortless!
While hiking, try to spot a fish farm that operates just off the coast!
You will know that you are near Monkey Beach when you see this wooden bridge.
