I adore visiting the Domain Wintergardens. I think it is one of my favourite places to head to if I need to see something pretty and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, especially on a weekday. It is situated right by the Auckland Museum – also worth a wander through if you have the time and the building itself is a feast for the eyes – but the lesser -visited Winter Gardens is a must-see too.
It consists of two glasshouses connected by a lovely outside area hosting a pond with fish and some lovely places to just sit and relax. The glasshouses are filled to the brim with flowers and plants, and both are totally different; one being much more tropical and the other, drier. The heating keeps things growing all year round and they are beautifully maintained.
You must also take a walk through the scenery here too so you don’t miss an abundance of New Zealand native plants and trees. Make sure you take your camera to this one!
