There are a number of different cooking classes on offer in Perth, but my favourites are run at Salt and Company. They’re centrally located, meaning it’s easy to get there by car or public transport, and they have a great range of different cuisines to learn. While Australian food tends to be traditionally of the barbecue variety, we’re actually such a diverse and multicultural country that we embrace food from all over the world. Here you can choose a cuisine of your fancy, and team up with local attendees to put together a feast that you’ll all sit down and enjoy family style (a long share table). I’ve done four classes so far, and I’ve got my eye on the Moroccan and Spanish ones next.

The cooking instructors are really funny and I’ve picked up some great tips and recipes.

I love the feast at the end where you get to enjoy all your hard work for the evening.

They use the kind of equipment you’ll have at home.

And ingredients are locally sourced or they tell them where to get them from.
