Australia has an incredible breakfast culture. We make light of the fact that we would rather go out for avocado on toast than save for a first home – but there’s a bit of truth in it, really!

Breakfast (or brunch) is what we do best, and we have a long list of places boasting some pretty good food options. My favourite is Harvest Espresso, which has a foodies’ menu that boasts ingredients like sweetbreads, wagyu, quail eggs, tripe and octopus. The plates are seasonal, with ingredients rotated on a quarterly basis, so that freshness and taste are prioritised.

It’s a tiny little hole in the wall café, and almost every time you’ll need to wait, but the food will knock your socks off. I like to order a savoury dish to start – then bully my dining companion into sharing a sweet after. That’s the best of both worlds!

Brioche with creamy avocado, melt in your mouth beef, and fresh veggies won us over on one of our first visits.

There’s usually at least four seasonal dishes to choose from, plus their staples like rolls or bacon and eggs.

The dishes all look as pretty as a picture.

You’ll definitely get your #yolkporn shots here!
