Over the years, Myeongdong and Hongdae have transformed into must-go places for tourists to get their Korean-made essentials. But I think Garosugil is the hip alternative place to shop.

Unlike the Garosugil that it used to be, the main road now boasts flagship-sized shops of all types, ranging from notable Korean beauty brands to designer boutiques. The alleyways on each side of Garosu Street are also home to hip cafés and shops now.

While you’re there, don’t forget to check out Gentle Monster, A-Land, and SJYP!

There’s a strong coffee culture at Garosugil now.

Gentle Monster is a conceptual sunglasses store. The space is worth checking out even if you are not interested in sunglasses!

A common sight at Garosugil – things come and go frequently.

Explore the alleyways of Garosugil – there’s always something interesting to see!

Quirky tiling at Mr. Holmes Bakehouse, the first outpost of an San Francisco bakery.
